Possibly habitable planet discovered! -12/9/11

Click here for full story. So to quickly summarize the Kepler telescope discovered a planet, dubbed Keppler 22-b, which may be in the right area for naturally occuring liquid water. It is one of 2,326 candidate planets discovered by the telescope of which 54 maybe as habitable as Keppler 22-b.

I know we've assumed for awhile that out of the millions or even billions of galaxies out there, with their own solar systems and sets of planets, at least a handful are bound to have planets that support life. Now we actually have an opportunity to make better judgements and actually figure out the number of those planets near our own. How fascinating. Although I don't think finding alien life is something that is really relevant to my life it is still interesting to learn about. Any thoughts?
