Approachable vs. Non-Approachable

Today was the end of our oral interview process for the American Criminal Justice Association. The executive board, which I am a member of, interviewed our pledges for final admittance into our organization. At the end of the process the board members said I was mean. They said that I too serious, talk very sternly, am intimidating and that it makes me unapproachable. I feel like I smile all the time and I hardly ever say anything mean to people. When I do speak about things that are wrong I speak to the organization as a whole not to an individual. Comment back with some feedback. Agree or diagree, what do you agree or disagree with, what should I keep, what should I improve etc.

Oh, wow, with that context it sounds totally different than before. I think maybe in a formal setting you might feel a bit unapproachable if you take your duty seriously. I wouldn't know if you do but if that's the case who gives a crap. You should do what you feel is appropriate especially as an officer. However, overall I don't think you are unapproachable on your own. You are pretty warm and welcoming and you are pretty charismatic. I'm surprised that somebody would say that about you if you were really laying on the charm. wink I think that maybe with your buddies or friends you might seem unapproachable because you tend to have this larger than life feel. But that's just your personality which is really outgoing and playful which might scare shy people away.aww
